Acts 9:7 Privy to Another's Conversation
Acts 9:7
Acts 9:7 (NASB2020)
The men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one.
Sometimes, the conversation between someone and Jesus is/was meant for them alone. Here, enough happened that they were sure something happened without them knowing exactly what. It left them speechless but not mute, just perplexed to the to point of saying nothing. It's that feeling that should comes over kids when the adults are talking and the conversation is inherently significant. The ache, the emotion, and the anticipation of what comes next... They didn't see Jesus but apparently Paul did. They didn't know what was going on but from the beginning Paul asked questions and got answers. These were not saints and this conversation was not about them getting saved. I wonder what would become of them but for this moment in time it is significant that they were held without anything to say.
Genesis 2:25 Not Part of the Original Scene
Current things we are concerned about, like always, were not part of the original scene. Clothes, appearances, danger, worry, regret, living outside God's plan, of course sin of any kind, and death. Before the fall they were living together, vulnerable, feeling worthy of each other's love. They had virtually limitless provision, they had God walking with them in the coolness of the garden, and they were vulnerable but not weak. From here, they might look uncivilized or pre-development but the reality is that if shame and selfish, wicked behavior comes with those developments then we don't actually want them. But it's too late now.. Unless God should deal with them we are hopelessly stuck. Then, He did deal withthem. He did provide rebirth, Spiritual healing, and he conquered shame, sin, and death. We don't live like we are fallen. We are now to live a life alive in Him, our darkest hours are known, our foolishness, wickedness, our shame, and He has dealt with it all. While we were yet sinners Christ died for us. We live beyond the veil, behind the curtain, insidethe bubble, and we have already won though for all practical appearances the battles still rage.
Judges 5:16 Get off the fence
There are great many people sitting on the fence. Perhaps they are determined that God is good and that He rewards those who seek Him but they're just not sure about risking all for Him. They're not sure about moving. They're not sure whether what they've been doing to this point is enough? There will come a day when we may compare a person who searches his heart to determine whether or not he will step out for God to a person who does not search and we will determine that the person who did search is such a better person. But better than searching one's heart to try to figure out whether or not one is going to move for God is actually moving. For, there will really come a day when God will ask did your hearts not burn within you while we walked? Could you not find certainty to get beyond doubts? There you still sat while others were acting upon the truth. No, Lord, please let it be thatI/we are found faithful. Let us be found among those who act upon what we know not those who simply search our hearts.
God wants us to watch our speech and reflect His love Titus 2:1
I feel a personal indebtedness to God to honor this verse with my true effort. God wants us to speak the things which are fitting for sound doctrine. This means so much more than telling people what the Bible says or even what we know of God's personality or even what we know of the miracles that God has done. God wants us to carry ourselves and to communicate in such a way that nothing we say or do detracts or distracts from the truth, from the whole body of truth that God has bestowed to the church by His Holy Spirit, by His word, by His presence with us in all things, by giving us the keys to the kingdom and the promise that we wil lnot be overcome by the gates of hell. The bottom line is how you carry yourself and the messages you deliver will create a stage and a spotlight for the doctrine of the Lord. So it should be. Some things we might say might not be beneficial. Some things we might do might distract from the truth that God has delivered. It's time we got busy making sure our lives are a reflection of the love of the Lord and his desire to have relationship with us.
Only God is God, He's got this.
Fear God alone. Trust Him to do as He's promised.
It is good to know who you are working for. When that someone is someone else or yourself the end product will always include discontent. Recognizing His power, His perfect plan, His direction that can be submitted to despite our lack of understanding, results in His being the one to carry the burden for certain choices.
If we have to deliberate our motivations and more, then there is no untouched sleep. Even being hurt doesn't have to be internalized if we know that the forward march is directed by Him and that our bottom line effort is submission to His will. No one else can be the goal, set the goal, or provide the necessary resources to stay the course.
Fear the Lord and Him alone and when you settle down at night and your mind plays over the days events your mind can be put in check and peace can ensue. Evil cannot win against God but evil can have a lasting impact against a person who is doing the walking in his or her own strength. There is also a temporal Victory where arrogance or ignorantly seeking a furtherance of relationship with another yields a sort of peace as we settle down thinking about today's victories.
We make ourselves comfortable with failure claiming our diagnosis or villainizing another party or ourselves. We feel vindicated because we justify the outcome. These methods are temporary and evil is actively having victories. The ONLY real victory is to submit to the Lord and be born again and faithful over whatever circumstance, trusting He is working His plan to it's betterment. That will function as a shield and portion that facilitates a rest that comes at physical dormancy and serves as a testimony to the one whom we serve. Saying, He's got this, becomes a simple victory that calms bewilderment and makes struggling to comprehend obsolete. Have peace at rest. Fear the Lord alone.
