Acts 9:7
Acts 9:7 (NASB2020)
The men who traveled with him stood speechless, hearing the voice but seeing no one.
Sometimes, the conversation between someone and Jesus is/was meant for them alone. Here, enough happened that they were sure something happened without them knowing exactly what. It left them speechless but not mute, just perplexed to the to point of saying nothing. It's that feeling that should comes over kids when the adults are talking and the conversation is inherently significant. The ache, the emotion, and the anticipation of what comes next... They didn't see Jesus but apparently Paul did. They didn't know what was going on but from the beginning Paul asked questions and got answers. These were not saints and this conversation was not about them getting saved. I wonder what would become of them but for this moment in time it is significant that they were held without anything to say.
